His experiment had gone swimmingly. Just as he had planned, Jon waited by his locker until he saw Athena come down the hall. As she was passing, he dropped his book.
What happened next was priceless.
Athena had never been anything but cold to Jon. Well, sometimes she was bitchy too. After his book hit the floor, however, Jon saw an entirely different side to the girl.
She immediately stopped her conversation with some goth douche-bag boy, probably talking about spiders or black hair dye or some crap, RAN to Jon's book, then scrambled after Jon to return it. When he took it from her the look on her face was something between ecstasy and relief. When he thanked her and turned away he was almost sure she would follow him to his next class.
She didn't, of course. Jon knew that changes he made in her dream wouldn't make immediate changes, but that he'd have to work on it. Athena had, in his opinion, taken to the changes quicker than Zoe, though. Maybe she was an easier subject. There was only one way to find out. That night he'd be paying her another visit.
