That morning, Sarah woke up frazzled. She'd had a terrible night filled with weird dreams. She rolled over, exhausted, and went back to sleep. It was another half hour before she realized she would be late for school.
She grabbed something out of her closet without thinking, grabbed her books, and darted out of the house, only one step above a zombie. In her dreams, she'd been falling behind. She needed to lead, to be followed, to be better than everyone else. She was better than everyone else.
Suddenly she wasn't so sure, her dream unleashed a wave of normally suppressed insecurity.
As she ran into school, she became suddenly aware of the students staring at her and murmuring.
