With Carla now all made up, the mother found herself entering a new routine.

Each morning, she would get up and get dressed in the outfit that May had dressed her in the first night. Then she would do up her hair and makeup. The final touch were the earrings, of course. Making sure to take one more look into the mirror, she made sure to crack a smile.

Heading for the kitchen, time was taken to see if her 'daughter' was up. Giving her door a knock, it's a cinch to see if May was awake. Usually, that took the form of a light being on and mutterings of something related to contests. Not that she was going to interrupt that process.

No, her attention turned away from her daughter's room and over to the kitchen. Breakfast was in order. In today's case, it would be simple - just a scrambled egg for both of them. Heading over to the fridge, out comes the carton of eggs. Grabbing two, it's over to the stove. Of course, she couldn't forget the pan. The last thing mother or daughter needed was a repeat of what had happened the other day.

Taking the time to turn the stove on, Carla cracked the eggs into the pan. The next couple minutes were relatively peaceful. Just needed to watch the eggs and make sure that they don't burn. Or worse, accidentally set the entire house ablaze. Thankfully, the mother had gotten this down to a 'T'.

"May, breakfast is ready!" Carla called out and found herself treated to the sound of footsteps echoing across the floor. With them came her daughter, more than ready to gobble down what Carla had made. While she appreciated that sentiment, part of her wished that May would be a bit more honest with her. But that was a talk for a different time.

Nonetheless, the pair took a moment to sit themselves down at the table. Carla put the plates down, making sure to grab a fork. Would be quite a challenge to eat the eggs otherwise.

With breakfast now out of the way, Carla's attention turned to chores. Somehow, there was always something that needed to be done around the Maple household. Whether that was laundry, vacuuming or even dusting, it kept the mother on her feet. Literally and figuratively in this case. For hours on end. Was this what Caroline did on a daily basis? Had to be. Why else would her home look so nice?

By the time she had gotten through all of that, it was time for lunch. Thankfully, this was a solo affair. Even if the prospect of dinner still hung in the background. For today, Carla went with a sandwich. Quick and simple, while at the same time being quite filling. Which made the task of getting dinner ready all the easier.

Thankfully, she had an hour or two before a decision on that needed to be made. Time that Carla found was best used relaxing with some soaps and maybe a cup of tea. She had never really tried it before this, but she now found herself hooked.

"How does spaghetti sound?" Carla called out and waited a moment for her daughter to respond. Eventually, something resembling a yes echoed back. Or at least, that was what she had thought May had said. Whatever the case, no time like the present.

Getting to work on the pasta, she headed over to the pantry. Grabbing both the noodles and a can of tomato sauce, she set them on the counter. Grabbing a pot, time was taken to make sure it got filled to the necessary level. Once the pot had, she brought it over to the stove. Turning a burner on, just a matter of waiting for the contents to boil. Probably the least interesting thing they could do.

Eventually, the water did boil and the pasta went in. Taking the time to stir about, Carla stared in. Part of her wished that the water truly was reflective. That way, she could make out her appearance from here. Not that this was absolutely necessary, more a thought.

"Phew." Carla thought and got out the colander. Setting it in the sink, she poured the pasta in. Giving it a few minutes to cool, she took the time to get some plates. Which was May's cue to enter the kitchen once.

"Mom, how are you holding up?" the coordinator inquired, giving Carla a moment to think her answer over.

How is Carla feeling about this?
