"I'm fine with you having the book." Caroline explained, Carol's expression shifting slightly. While she had expected her sister to take the book away, this was a welcome relief in her book (pun not intended).
"Thank you, sis." Carol answered and got a sigh from her sister. Sure, it was possible that Caroline had expected something else in return - maybe a hug or even a kiss. Or perhaps there was something else on the mother's mind. "Something wrong?"
Caroline looked away.
"No, I'm just trying to deciding what our next step is going to be." the mother explained, watching Carol stand back up for the moment.
"Understood." she answered and made a beeline for her room. Not even closing the door behind herself, she jumped onto the bed and opened the book back up.
