Meanwhile, at Jon's house, his mom was relaxing on the couch reading a magazine. She heard someone running up the driveway and looked out the window. "Oh, it's just Jon and Karyn." she thought, then did a double take. That wasn't Karyn, it looked a lot like Karyn, could even be her brother, but Karyn was an only child. What was going on here?

Jon's mother (Jane Gibson in this story branch, as established two episodes ago) did not at this point know that the strange coin Mikey had inherited had the power to grant wishes. Nor did she know the effects it had had on reality. She did not remember the reality that everyone else did. And therefore, what happened next would be incredibly awkward and confusing for all involved.

Jon and Karl arrived at the front door, and walked inside. Jon's mother greeted them. "Hi, Jon. Who's your friend?"

At this, Jon and Karl both stopped. "Mom, this is Karl." Jon said. "He's been here dozens of times."

"Karl?" Jane Gibson asked. She turned to Karl. "I'm sorry, I'm sure I've never seen you before."

"This isn't funny." Karl said, irritably. He wanted to get this meeting over with so something could be done about the breasts hidden under his shirt. "Of course you've seen me before. Maybe it's the hair. You remember I had red hair before?"

"What?" Jon's mother asked. "No... I'm sorry, but I don't remember at all. But you remind me of someone. Are you related to Karyn?"

"Karyn?" Karl asked.

"Jon's other friend." Jane replied. "She has blonde hair like yours so I thought you might be related."

"Mom, I don't know what you're talking about." Jon said. "I don't have a friend named Karyn."

"But you hang out together all the time." Jon's mother objected. "You're the best of friends. Where is she now?"

Jon and Karl exchanged glances. "Jon, what's going on here?" Karl asked.

Jon had no answers. He was sure he hadn't made any more wishes. None that would affect his mother's memory, or his and Karl's memory for that matter. But for some reason his mother didn't remember Karl, but remembered some girl named Karyn.

He wondered if he should try talking to his mother further, or whether he and Karl should just talk their way out of this discussion and then go up to Jon's room to figure out the best way of getting rid of the unwanted breasts Karl had wished for.
