He tried to lean forward, but all he saw was part of Karyn's head. Then Karyn's voice...although it sounded a little different.
"Since that PTA thing at the beginning of the school year."
"Well, I've been busy at work, and with the kids..but we should get together soon," Sarah said.
"How about tomorrow night around 9? Same place as last time?"
Sarah paused. She had a load of work to keep up on, not to mention household chores, but she needed a night out without the kids. "Sure...I'd like that..I'll text you if I have a problem?"
"Sounds great."
She knocked on the side window, and his new sister slid it down. "Hi, Mrs. Morse," the teen said. Jon was finally able to see Karyn....still blond....but now a blond the same age as Sarah...errr...new Mom.
"I saw your name on the audition list for the school play," Karyn said. "I thought I'd tell you to break a leg."
Jon looked annoyed...why couldn't she say what the name she saw on the list was?
"Thanks," new sister said with a big smile. "I know freshmen don't get the lead...but I'm hoping to a least getting a speaking part..."
"Well, Miss Kellman is very ambitious this year. Her predecessor was going to do Annie."
Jon frowned. He was almost 100% sure he'd seen a posting for auditions for Annie the other day.
"Jon...is something wrong?" Karyn said, in a stern voice that sounded like one of his teachers when he wasn't paying attention.
"Umm...no, Mrs. Morse," he said. At least he had a name for her.
"Well, I'll see you in class tomorrow," she said. "And Lorraine, I hope you get a good part."
Progress...sister Lorraine. But...who was she?
