Since it was ultimately my call, the angel left after a bit of shooing. He disappeared in a puff of white feathers. I had my phone out and called Paul. He answered me right away. "What!?" he snapped. "I hitched a ride here. It's fine. Where are the Heat Clan members? We need to get them out of here as soon as possible." I said seriously. It was a really tense situation. "No way! This is where the hub is. If the Magnetic Clan goons get it, it's over." he argued. I rolled my eyes. I sighed out loud again. "It's the same thing if all their X-frames and AEP units are killed off. We still need to keep them safe." I reminded them before asking where they were. "The goons are going for all of the humans here." It was a large massacre in-progress. I did not really care about all the students. They were not people that were important to me or to the clan. It was a matter of convenience for the PEP unit staff and faculty. Niko and Keith had sent their clan members to help out as our liege was being attacked here. We were all going in and trying to eliminate the threats to the student body and Heat Clan. It was a war.
I broke into a building that seemed to be the social work department building. There were some gunshots still. In order to actually win here, the Magnetic Clan needed to kill lots of humans and find the transmission hub. When it was secured, they could take it over. I did not know if the transmission hub was in this building, but I did know that stopping the invaders was the top priority. The less of them there were, the less likely the hub would be found. I could also tip the balance in our favor by knocking off strong opponents with my skills. Paul and Brett would no doubt do the same. The gunshots had died down for a bit. I followed the sound to the second floor and down the hall until I came upon a lecture hall. There was a pile of bodies on the ground. A PEP unit with ash blond hair and brown eyes was standing next to the lectern. He was surrounded by several very well armed PEP units. They were all pointing their guns at the blond. "Why are you even here?" one of the cyborgs asked him. "You're a marksman. One of the best fighters around. A civil war is dangerous!" another chimed in.
The cornered cyborg snarled. "If you must know. I was traveling around the continent looking for work when I passed through Magnetic Clan territory. They gave me the job to help kill the humans so the others could get to the hub." That made sense. There were 13 transmission hubs, 1 for each type of X-frame. Any of them could throw out a mission wirelessly to any PEP unit in their sphere of influence. Anyone of them could accept it, but the results could vary based on the quality of the unit. This one was a cyborg that was probably the best choice if one wanted a badass to fight and kill humans. He noticed me and glared. "What are you doing there?" he snapped. It was clear that he was angry to be stopped from his mission. The others looked at me. "PBJ Clan is here to help. So is Re:birth and Keith's clan are also here. You guys are not going to get far." I told everyone in the room. "See that, now? It's not looking too good for you now, 04700." The PEP assassin glared at him before flicking his wrists. 2 daggers sank into that cyborg's eyes. 04700 ducked and rolled to avoid bullets.
