"Okay, I ordered the pizza," Michelle said suddenly, causing Jon to jump. He was so focused on his computer that he zoned out everything else. "Jeez, Jon. Don't freak out," she said, as she sat down on his bed. She peered over at the computer screen and saw what her brother was up to. "Why are you googling Mom?" she asked.
Jon turned off his monitor, then turned towards her. "No reason."
But the look on Michelle's face told him that she didn't believe him. He may not have known this girl, but she had been his sister for a long time. Long enough to know when he was lying. "Come on, Jon," she said. "Tell me what's going on."
Jon thought about it. Should he tell her about the effect of his wish (maybe leaving out the wish part, if that was possible)? Or just shrug it off?
