A few minutes later, Jon came home. He walked into the kitchen and stared at his "new" sister.
"Do I have something on my face?" Zoe asked.
"Huh?" Jon asked.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I was just ... um ... admiring you. You look very ... um ... pretty."
"Well, that's an odd compliment. Coming from you." She stood up and turned to her mom. "I'm gonna go over to Melony's house."
"Okay," Jane said. "Just don't stay over too long."
"Melony?" Jon asked. Zoe didn't have a friend named Melony.
"Yeah. Melony Tyne?" Jane said.
"Oh, right."
Jon went to his room. His accidental wish had completely changed his sister. She was actually pleasant to be around. But her life seemed to change too. She no longer had the same friends and she didn't seem to have the same interests anymore either. Which for Jon was a plus, though. He didn't like the fact that she was a Goth.
He sat down on his bed and looked at the stone in his hand. This thing was dangerous. With one little wish, he had changed his sister's entire life and anyone else who was part of it. Just imagine what a more complicated wish could do.
