He just looked at his father and nodded. "I wanted to get a fresh start." he said nervously. He still did not know if they knew he was planning to get a pass. Even if they did, Luke had no clue what he would think about it. It was in a single moment of deliberation where he chose his mother as the emergency contact. Speaking of, he felt at his right ear. Luke did not have his earrings. He dashed into the bathroom. His sister let out a screech of frustration seeing it. "Calm down. I needed these babies." His father sighed. "I thought we were turning over a new leaf?" he questioned. Luke nodded earnestly. "I am! I swear!" he said, putting the case up to his chest. "Usually, you put childish things away when you stop being a child. It's called growing up." His father lectured. "Listen, I need to get in there. I'm running late as it is!" his sister said as he roughly pushed past him. The door was slammed with scorn. Luke and his father just looked at the door. "Well, sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission." his father said. They shared a quiet laugh. He then looked at the case again.

Luke had no choice but to wait for him to say something. "I never liked those things. Women and deviants wear earrings." he said openly. Luke only winced. He knew his father did not approve, but to know it went that far made him a bit sad. It genuinely hurt a bit deep down. "But it's not me we're talking about here. If they really are part of you, they need to show how well you've grown." he finished before patting his son on the head. Luke looked up at his father. "Th-thanks." he said before walking down the hall to the stairs. He had to talk to his mother. Luke knew exactly where to find her. She was in the kitchen serving breakfast. She had her back to him as she was wiping down the counter. When she turned, she did a double take. She looked like she could not believe that he was there. Once the shock wore off, she gave him a warm smile. "Good morning, Luke." "Morning mom." he replied as he walked up to her. She titled her head slightly when she saw the case. "Were you kicked out by your sister!? I heard something up there. You know how to do it without a mirror." she teased.

That was true. She had shown him really well. Luke had also been doing it by himself for years. Muscle memory alone would probably see him through. He looked at her meaningfully. She did not seem to understand what the fuss was all about. "I remember yesterday." he said. "I hope so. It wasn't that long ago." she teased again, but her smile was strained. Luke furrowed his brow. "No! I mean what dad said in his text. I want to turn over a new leaf starting today." She looked pleased hearing it. "That's good. You are our son. As long as you're out there trying, we'll be proud of you." she praised. Luke felt a bit strange. He was not used to being praised this much. It was due to not doing anything worth of praise before. Luke could not stop the pink from rising to his cheeks. "Thanks." he said. She pulled him in for a brief hug. He allowed it as the heat in his cheeks raised by a degree. Luke pushed the case towards her. She did not know what he wanted her to do with it. "Please? One more time!? I... want to have this to go out." he said without looking at her face. 'I look like a loser!' he thought.
