James felt a bit more relaxed about the situation now as he drove back home, listening to stories of this new ‘magical girl’. He was a cautious driver by nature and tried not to get too distracted as the word came out of this new super heroine.
The truth was James didn’t think he could be any kind of ‘super-hero’ himself… It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help people. Of course, he would, if he could… but ultimately he didn’t think it was a ‘good’ idea. The news presenter was stressing not to copy this girl and try to fly out the window- as if anyone would. (Oh wait yes, people would he realised.)
She had so much media attention. James couldn’t handle anything like that. Though if there was another magical girl doing the job… then he could simply let her do it. She seemed like the real deal anyway and must be okay.
…James knew he tended to mess up anything he ever tried. Though one thing put him off…he had never seen the ‘enemy’ she was fighting.
In all the news there was no reports of any ‘monsters’ or aliens… so what was she doing? He guessed she was just testing out her abilities, training herself for that eventual fight but… something in his guts was telling him something else was going on. It made him uncomfortable for some reason.
He wondered if he should look for her? How would he even do that, given she seemed to be a ‘worldwide’ phenomenon, caring not for any boundary or state. She could be in Russia, Europe, Africa… heck they even saw her in Antarctica at one point. It was crazy.
“I wish I could see her…” How would that be? Would they team up? Be some kind of Superhero group? He didn’t even know the extent of his own magic and besides…
A soft light glowed on the pendant. James thought the radio was playing a strange tune as it felt like a sombre tone of a single note, yet stretched out to a full song in ticklish details through his body. He felt odd as his body ‘instantly’ transformed. The female body was a little too small for the way she had set the seat and pedals. “Oh Crap!” She gasped. A weird… energy ribbon appeared in front of the car, going through it like the DeLorean in Back to the future. The girl found herself on an unknown street still in a panic.
“BREAK! BREAK! WHICH IS THE BREAK! CRAP!” She turned the wheel as she tried the shift-stick- accidently ‘breaking it’ with her strength. She looked at in in alarm as she ‘finally’ found the break… the hand-break?
The car suddenly span, hitting the side of a tree with an impressive ‘ding’ on the side. A few moments later the magical girl got out.. completely unharmed. There was a slight smell of petrol, though fortunately it didn’t look like it was about to explode. She stared at it the damage cringing, awkwardly walking around it in her skirt. What was she going to do now? “Oh no.. no no… The other me is going to kill me! Wait.. I am me aren’t I? Uh…”
She was… and she wasn’t? She bit her lip again as she realised this strange… overwhelming sensation of ‘being’ someone else again… feeling things she shouldn’t. A mind that was young, fresh and perhaps a little naïve. She didn’t know how to drive the car or access her other self’s memories… but that didn’t mean she ‘wasn’t him. She felt more like a young version of herself.. of him…
…right?
At least nobody was hurt… the car looked like it should work again, but she wasn’t too sure how to drive it. “Where the heck am I…” She looked at a sign which showed a strange foreign language. “Oh no…” So she had somehow brought her car… into a weird town, probably on the other side of the planet. She brushed her green over her elfin pointed ears as she decided on a plan. Turning back into her old self was ‘not’ a good idea right now…
“Taste now the Justice you have earned!” A voice shouted.
James blinked as she saw a flash of light around the corner of the street. She quickly ran towards there not even sure why…
“To Hell with you, Witch!” A man’s voice replied.
There… before James’s eyes were the Angelic Magical Girl. Purple hair, skin tight suit and she seemed to have wings on her back. She stared at the sight. She appeared to be rough handling a man, holding him up by his shirt. He looked to be about thirty? A foreign man with light brown hair.
“You Crazy!” He said.. somehow the words filtering into English? James wasn’t sure how that happened but she added ‘universal translator’ to her list of powers.
The Angelic magical girl then threw the man into the ground as golden chains appeared, forcing him into a kneeling position as they wrapped around his wrists and pulled him. “Much better… Now then… on the internet you go by the name… StickyM&MsRND1… for that name you deserve to die alone but, lets go over your crimes…”
James gasped. ‘crimes?’ The poor man looked horrified… as James watched hidden away around the corner. There didn’t seem to be anyone else around… the air felt still. Was this another power? It felt… weird that nobody else was here.
The angelic magical girl paced around him with not a single consideration. “You called me terrible things on the internet… I lost a lot of friends…” The angelic woman said with a sigh. “I believe that is enough to warrant your punishment. You will no longer exist.” She then plunged her sword- a strange magical blade into him as the man screamed.
James raised her eyes expecting blood but instead… the man just went ‘poof’ into a weird magical light.
“… Thus Justice is served,” The woman nodded. Hm? Who goes there! Show yourself!” The angelic woman shouted. “Strange, The field is up… no mortal can be witness…”
James gulped. This girl was crazy… she wanted nothing more then to run… but if she did… she didn’t think she could out run her given her ability to fly. “Uh- H-Hi…”
The woman stared at her… then grinned. “Whoa! Another magical girl!” She then embraced James- something James was not at all ready for. “Well well! Aren’t you just a little cutie!”
“W-What did you do-“ James gulped. The woman was older then her clearly… and a lot stronger.
The woman continued to smile. “Dispensing justice of course! I am the magical girl of Justice!” Can you not tell? “Though I decided ‘personal’ justice is best justice. I was granted the power to identify everyone who had ever slighted me… you should have seen the look on this guy’s face, the one who cut me off at a junction, the one who broke into my car last week and stole ten dollars, the one who took the light from my bike when I was five… there’s an awful lot of justice to be served still.” The Angelic woman explained “So, What wrongs are you righting? We should totally team up!”
James quietly realised he wanted nothing at all to do with this woman… “You… you murdered them…” She said softly, staring at where the man had been. She felt sick… she wanted to throw up. She had no idea what seeing this would feel like.
“Murder? Nah, not at all!” She smiled again and placed her hand on the girl’s shoulder. “I made it so that… they never existed. I consider that… fair. They chose poorly in their lives dear… I was someone they could take advantage of… but suddenly… the tables turn. What else is there to do? I bet your friends treated you horribly when you showed them your power too…”
Friends? “I- I don’t … have any friends,” James whispered thinking how to get out of here. She had to figure out a way to explain to people what she’s been doing... it was no wonder there’s no report. She was … ‘un-making’ people!
“Well, now you have me,” The girl replied. “My name is Jessica.. but you can call me Magic Girl Justice!” She grinned happily. “I can teach you how to do it… let me share my power… think about it… find all the people who have wronged you. See that perfect future, where if they had not existed… you would have had it all…” from her hand on James’s shoulder a purple light flowed into her.
James gasped as the… the image came. Her own family… who never thought she would amount to anything. The teachers who treated her like garbage growing up… and the bullies in the playground. They said bad things to him… they hurt him a lot… she never did anything to deserve it… She could feel it… she could feel all that pain…
“It hurts doesn’t it,” Jessica sighed. “Come on let’s go un-make them then. It’s my gift..” She started to lift her as if to take her into the sky.
“N-No…” James whispered.
“What?” Jessica blinked.
“I said No!” James spat angrily. “Yes… those people have hurt me… and maybe my life would have been better if they didn’t exist… but… we don’t have the right-”
Jessica gave a slight chuckle. At that. “You’re new to this…” She softly realised. “You’re a magical girl now dear! You have… every right. Do you have… any idea how silly it is to say you have no right? Let it in and use your power… these are the monsters of this world… we fight monsters… I am offering to fight your monsters now… ”
James started to run away… feeling tears in her eyes over what she had seen…
