"What kind of lazy meme horseshit is this?" You gripe, seeing not one but the other's as Monika, was this some kind of parody game? Perhaps commentary on
how dating sim characters were so lame and all alike. You save quickly and then decide to continue thru the dialog, choosing the former one meant to be the pink
haired girl. Her dialog is, similar? What, she's your childhood friend too, what sense does that make? You reload and choose another. Same result, and same
again still. They're all Monika, the same mousy red haired character with a bow in her hair. "Oh haha I get it now, the game's so clever because all the choices
you get are the same. Are we done yet with this meme shockvalue game?" You say as you attempt to click out and exit, but strangely it won't let you, at all.
You attempt to press the power button but that flies goes around and distracts you from doing do as you attempt to swat it, great. Guess you'll have to play thru some more.
When you loaded it back up, you saw that all the characters were in fact, the same, although a couple of them seemed to be glossy imitations of the “president”,
and apparently only she was able to emote at all. The rest just, stared in some neutral pose with a stupid grin on their face. You were beginning to think that the
install must’ve crapped out or something. You got some “writing tip of the day” too, which seemed to wrap things up, “Monika’s writing tip of the day: people these
days seem scared to trod a path that’s already been walked down, but remember: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Even if it can make your writing a little
stale, don’t be afraid to rely on tropes, or use a quote as your own idea. They’re that prominent for a reason.” This was starting to get fairly ridiculous, in all honesty.
After you’d gone through to see all their reactions, they had you “write some poetry”, which was honestly a load of hooey, since it was just a bunch of words that you
picked from a set list, with three chibi versions of the same character jumping up in faux joy to your word choice. Interestingly enough, the same one would jump
to the same kind of words, like one jumping to “melancholy” also jumping to “thunderstorm”, or “pink” and “bunny” drawing the same character. It was hard to keep
track of though, which, annoyingly enough, was probably the point. The fly kept getting on your nerves, and you half wanted to ask if they were Monika too.
This felt like that one Spongebob episode, and probably was a reference to it, considering that writing tip the not-so-shiny Monika gave. You blew on it. It didn’t move.
Ominous.
