He looked at her from top to bottom. The only other occupant of the house was supposed to be a MaidBot. But this didn't look like a maidbot. The clothes, the hairstyle...it was entirely wrong for a MaidBot. But other parts seemed to be what he thought the MaidBot was supposed to look like. "Requesting identification," he said.
"I don't understand."
"Please state your designation."
"My designation is..." she trailed off for a moment. "My name is Drew."
That broke him out of his loop for a moment. "I do not understand," he said.
"What don't you understand?" She asked him.
"This interaction differs from previous interactions," he said.
"I know what you mean....something is different today," she said.
"Identify."
"Just...everything seems new...but it isn't. This is the same house it was before...I don't know how to describe it," Drew said. She didn't remember feeling this way before. She didn't get a response from her companion. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"First Task: Run diagnostic test."
"How do you do that?" She asked.
"Analyze contents of this building and look for errors."
"Did you find any?"
"Drew," he responded.
"I am NOT an error," she said....unsure of why her volume had suddenly gone up. "Why don't you go analyze something else?"
Seeing that as an instruction, he turned and left without further words, leaving Drew to respond to another text from the contact labeled Mom, advising that she was 'fine'. But she wasn't quite sure she was.
