Luckily, the next day was Saturday, so Jon and Karyn made plans to hang out and try out the stone more. But, unfortunately, there was a snafu.
Jon was about to leave the house to meet Karyn at the park, but his mom stopped him.
"Aunt Sharon and Sally are visiting today," his mom said. "I want you to babysit Sally while Sharon and me are out."
"Why can't Zoe do it?" Jon complained.
"I'm asking you to do it. It's only for a few hours." The doorbell rang. "That's probably them."
Jon sat down on the living room sofa, cursing to himself that he had to babysit his six-year old cousin, when he could be doing something more important, like hanging out with Karyn.
As he watched Sally excitedly run into the living room, he fingered the stone in his pocket, wondering if maybe he should make a wish to get out of this predicament.
