"Come on," Zoe insisted. "Put down that stupid rock and let's go."
Jon put the stone in his pocket and went with his sister. But when he did, he noticed something. He was shorter. Glancing at his reflection in a nearby mirror, he saw why. He was younger, by at least two years. He had switched ages with Zoe! Now she was a Junior in high school and he was a Freshman.
If they had switched ages, then what about Karyn? Maybe he wasn't even friends with her in this new reality. But if he wasn't friends with her, then who was he friends with?
As they walked out to Zoe's car, he heard his sister mutter to herself how Jon was ruining her Saturday.
Jon fingered the stone in his pocket, wondering if maybe he could help Zoe out. He didn't really want to go to the mall. And even if he did, she didn't have to babysit him. In this new reality, he was probably about fourteen, definitely old enough to be on his own.
