Jon pushed her off. "Stop that!"
"Well, I wouldn't have to make you come if you came willingly. God, Jon. I thought you'd be more grateful that I'm even taking you at all."
"I am, but can't I bring my stone along?"
"Why do you want to bring a stupid rock with you?" She didn't wait to let him answer. "Get in the car."
Feeling defeated, Jon complied and got into the car. On their way to pick up his first friend, which he assumed would be Karyn, he hoped that no one used the stone while he was gone.
