Jon and Karyn knew the risks of leaving Athena out of earshot. So long as they couldn't hear her, they wouldn't notice any changes she made with the stone. Even with that in mind, however, they knew they needed to get out of town. Their only hope of dealing with Athena was to get out of town and the range of the stone.
"Since the school's more or less in the middle of town..." Jon said, gasping for breath as he and Karyn ran from the school as quickly as possible. "We should be safe once we're out of town."
"Yeah, but where can we go after that?" Karyn asked, trailing behind Jon a bit, due to not being used to her wish enhanced breasts.
"I think it would be best if we decide that later." Jon said. There was no way to know if Athena would be listening into their conversation.
"Well, where can we get a car?" Karyn asked, trying to keep the conversation moving.
"We've got my grandfather's old car." Jon said. "My uncle didn't want it, so we ended up with it. It's still got his plates and everything, too."
"Well, that's something." Karyn said.
Jon, despite the somewhat solid plan he had formulated, couldn't help but worry. There was so much that could go wrong in the time it would take to get to his house, and then out of town. As a matter of fact, there were nearly limitless ways that they could be stopped from escaping. Jon could only hope that Karyn and himself were low on Athena's priority list.
