"Return to your station and run a full diagnostic," she said.

Andrew did as she ordered, the order overriding any other tasks, and he quickly once again found himself zoning out as his body followed instructions. The charging station seemed oddly comfortable this time as he entered, and the door sealed.

The system sent a command to his receiver for him to shut his systems down for diagnostic. In Andrew's case, he interpreted as going to sleep. The diagnostic system noticed a large amount of data being received and transmitted from the unit. It assumed an update must be in progress, and waited for it to complete.

It was actually quite the opposite. The bot suddenly, still sitting at the computer, began to process new information...although it was rapidly becoming more like daydreaming as its systems stored the behaviors in subroutines that integrated into its programming, replacing older code, now deemed obsolete.

At the same time, Andrew's brain continued to adapt to respond to the instructions it was being given, the system learning to deliver inputs in the right format, and finding, as time went on, that the adaptations became less and less necessary as his brain started to interpret the signals directly. It was becoming quite accustomed to the inputs, perhaps even reliant on them.

Meanwhile, the diagnostic noticed the stream of data slowing, and assumed the update was complete. There was always some data being transmitted or received from the system. It sent an instruction to perform a test upon reactivation, then sent the reactivation signal to the receiver. Andrew's eyes popped open as the door to the chamber opened. He exited. "Maidbot An-One is online," he said out loud. "Performing test as instructed." he began to walk around the house. During the test, he was supposed to walk around the premises, and analyze items he saw to ensure there were no errors.

He started through the house, and everything seemed in order, till he got to the bedrooms.
