Jon looked at Athena and frowned. "Zoe who?"
The Goth girl seemed to get even more worried. "It's just as bad as I thought. You don't even remember your own sister," she said, nervously touching a crystal pendant that hung from her neck.
"I remember my sister. Are you saying another sister I don't remember?"
"I was just talking to Zoe a few minutes ago. And then suddenly, she disappeared. Right in front of me. Do you have any idea how that could happen?"
Actually, I do, Jon thought. He didn't remember knowing someone named Zoe, but what Athena was describing could only have been caused by the wishing stone. And Jon knew that if someone didn't hear the wish, then their memories got changed to fit the new reality. Jon could very well have had a sister named Zoe, in the previous reality. But now only the person who made the wish remembered her. Wait a minute, Jon thought. If only the person who made the wish remembers, then how does Athena remember? He paused. "I have been feeling like something was suddenly off," he admitted. "I just, don't know what."
"This is some kind of next level magic. I mean...I've read about people who can sense magic...you must be one of them," Athena said.
"Well, how do you remember this Zoe if I don't?"
She patted the necklace around her neck. "I wear protection."
"You don't happen to have another one of those, do you?" He asked.
"Well, no...but we can try to get something to help at the occult shop...this is a family heirloom."
"Maybe we should go now, before anyone else disappears," Jon said.
"Fine...maybe they can help us with supplies to find Zoe too," Athena said.
"Can I ask you this question I've always wondered?" Jon asked as they walked away from the empty hall where she'd found him. "Maybe I asked before things changed....How did you get a name like Athena?"
"Well..."
