"Why can't you just use the talisman to change me back?" Jane asked her daughter.
"I told you, wishes can't be reversed," Zoe said.
"I meant when they bring the wishing stone back."
"It's not safe. We don't know what will happen. It might turn things bad."
Jane threw her arms up in the air. "Things are already bad."
"Maybe from your point-of-view, but not from mine."
The front door opened and Jon and Athena walked in.
"Where's Karyn?" Jane asked.
"Uh ... there was an accident," Jon said. "She's gone."
"Gone?" Jane asked. "What do you mean gone?"
"Sarah accidentally made a wish," Athena explained. "She feels really bad about it. You know she'd never do something like that on purpose. It was just a slip of the tongue."
"Yeah, I know," Zoe said.
"Okay, can we stop apologizing and try to get Karyn back?" Jon asked, impatiently.
"How?" Zoe asked. "Wishes can't be reversed."
"But they can if there's interference from another artifact. Just like when Karyn wished ..."
Zoe shook her head. "I already explained this to Mom. The artifact is completely unreliable in that state."
"Well, we have to do something," Jon said.
