"I get it," he said, starting to get used to the voice coming out of his mouth. "But...you have records, logs of stuff, right?"
"Correct."
"How many Maidbots were there here yesterday?"
"Two."
"Active Maidbots..."
"There is no record of MaidBot Zero-Two being deactivated."
"But is there a record of MaidBot Zero-Two doing any work yesterday?"
"No. MaidBot Zero-Two was determined to be malfunctioning."
"How long has it been since any work was done by MaidBot Zero-Two?"
"Work will resume with cleaning the bathroom," the MaidBot reminded him.
"But...how long?"
"Forty-five days. MaidBot Zero-Two will retrieve the cleaning supplies," she responded.
Andrew found the rhythm of her steps moving out of sync with his own, but...Andrew still could not stop moving toward the supply closet to get the cleaning supplies. When he returned, he was instructed to work cleaning the toilet, while she cleaned the shower.
"If MaidBot Zero-Two was malfunctioning for forty-five days as you say, then why was she not repaired?"
"Information not available."
"If I'm not Andrew, which I am...then where is Andrew?"
"Master Andrew is not present in this house."
"When did he leave?" Andrew insisted.
"No record of Master Andrew's departure is available."
"So, the same day you decided MaidBot Zero-Two was back is the day Andrew was listed as no longer present?"
"Correct."
"Can you recalculate possibility that I'm telling the truth and I am Andrew?"
The Maidbot froze, calculating the possibility. And Andrew was suddenly were able to stop cleaning the toilet in order to look at her, sure he'd finally convinced her. He got up, dropping the brush, wanting to call his mom before she changed her mind...or finished whatever had caused her to freeze.
The teen turned MaidBot clone only got a few steps before he felt another jolt, this one seemed more powerful than the previous one...last time, his legs had been remotely controlled...but this time...he went completely limp. Other than breathing and other basic functions, he couldn't move.
