But how had Lydia Warren been affected by this? She taught at the elementary school, not at the high school. And Jon had specifically said high school.
Lydia had left elementary school at exactly 3PM. Some of the students were still involved in afterschool activities. She drove straight to the high school, where she had a former classmate, Kelly Robertson, who taught there. She planned to pick her up.
She parked behind a parent who was waiting. Her friend wasn't outside. So she headed up the stairs into the school, passing some teenagers sitting on the steps and ran into Kelly in the hall.
She checked her watch. It was...3:47. Unknown to them, a few moments later, Kelly Robertson, the young teacher in the conservative dark blue skirt suit was now Kelly Finch...a fifty-seven year old woman...still wearing the same conservative outfit.
"Young lady," Mrs. Finch said. "I don't know how your parents let you leave the house dressed like that, but..."
Lydia rolled her eyes. "School is over, Mrs. Finch. I'm leaving...can we talk about this tomorrow?"
