He had to get to the wishing rock and find out what happened. How was it possible Sarah Had replaced his mom?
"What is with that tone young man? It's been rare lately that we have all been able to enjoy a night as a family, and when I finally get time off and surprise you, you sound depressed and look at me like I have two heads. Is something wrong?" Sarah questioned her son in the strict tone she used when she wanted to guilt them into doing things her way. Manipulation a situation was a strong suit, and had gotten her far in her field.
Jon faltered, but tried recovering quickly. For now he had to deal with Sarah as his mom. That meant treating her that way until he could use the stone, unless he wanted to make her suspicious. "It's not that mom," he said, the idea of calling this bitch his mother making his stomach turn a little, "it's just, uh..."
"There you are Jon. I thought we were meeting up to walk home. What kept you?" A new voice said. Jon turned to see Zoe's friend Zelda. What she said already had the gears turning in his head. There was other evidence, such as Zelda's hair now being blonde with black streaks woven in, and green being mixed in with the colors of her usual cyber goth attire. For the next day Zelda would be his girlfriend.
"Now I see why you were disappointed to see me Jon. You know I don't like Zelda. She's just a bad influence and holding you back." Sarah said bluntly. "You'd be much better off dating a cheerleader, or somebody who can increase your social standing."
"Fuck off you old cow. I'm his girlfriend, so deal with it. We've been friends since we were kids, and I didn't hear you complaining then." Zelda yelled at the older woman.
"That was when your actions could be excused for being an immature child. It's clear that is all you will ever be, a miserable little loser." Sarah said through gritted teeth. She was in a public school, and needed to control herself.
Jennifer gave a sympathetic look Jon's way. Jon just wondered how he was going to get out of this mess.
