Jon's day had been horrible for him. He'd gotten disgusted looks from everyone and they were all giving him a wide berth. After 3PM, when the school day ended on Thursdays, the principal had called him in and given him a lecture
By the time he got out, most of the students had gone home, were in club meetings, or lingering on the school steps, which was just fine with him. On Thursdays, the only clubs meeting were the Drama Club and the Science Club.
*At the same time he was at his locker, this reality's version of Karyn was on her motorcycle heading away from the school.
Sarah was in her Science Club meeting, even though today had not been wonderful for her either.*
Jon headed toward the main entrance. He paused to check his watch, waiting till the day was over.
*Sarah started to head out the door when the clock struck 3:47. Her hair began to gray at the roots, while the rest turned brown and short. Lines began to form in the sixteen-year old's face, etching year after year into it.
A few milliseconds later, 50-year old Principal Sarah Morse stood there. Now, Mrs. Morse, the older teacher whose family Sarah now claimed had not been principal. Apparently, Sarah Morse had different ambitions. She looked over her dominion with satisfaction.
Karyn's motorcycle vanished and suddenly a different Karyn was walking home from school.*
Jon spun around as there was a tap on his shoulder. "Hey," a complete stranger said, smiling at him. He could recognize some familiar features...she'd taken the place of someone familiar, but he had no idea who she was. She was rather attractive, with blond hair, a pleasant smile, and a not unimpressive bustline.
"Hi," he said. Clearly he was supposed to know her.
"Ready to go? Karyn said she'd meet us at my house."
"Sure," he said.
She held out her arm, clearly expecting he'd take her hand. He did so, wondering who she was and what they were like together.
