Jon loved going to school. Learning didn't interest him, but girls definitely did. There was no shortage of girls that were beautiful. He was surrounded by eye candy: Sarah McMillan, Tiffany Sanders, Melissa Smith, Yukio Meshida, Jennifer and Sarah Taylor, Melony Tyne ... Even the not-so-hot girls were interesting. He might have written off Gladys Brewer and Kyla Leeson if they weren't Karyn's friends, but he'd come to know and like them. And he was intrigued by Stephanie Wright. She used to be Karyn's friend before she joined the Goth subculture. Was she as bad as she looked, or was the old Stephanie still beneath all those dark fashions?

Jon walked in circles on his bedroom floor. He couldn't settle on a single girl to change with the stone. He wanted to give the girls new looks, but he didn't want them all to become cheerleaders, Goths, jerks, or nerds ... or blondes, brunettes, or redheads. How could he diversify their new appearances without making a long-winded wish? He silently arranged and rearranged words in his mind, picking up the stone and speaking only when he was satisfied.

"I wish all the girls at my high school switched families every day for the next seven days, and that I would have a new sister and girlfriend for each of those seven days."

The family swap part of the wish would enable him to see seven different versions of each girl. Since not every family in town was white, some of the girls would change races.

His younger sister Zoe attended his school, so she would also be affected, and for the next week, she'd belong to seven other families and some other girls would take her place.

He couldn't settle on a single fantasy girlfriend, so why not let the stone pick seven different ones? If he wanted more, he could make another wish next week.

He heard footsteps in the hallway outside his bedroom. They were too light to be his father's, but too loud to be his little brother Mikey's. Could that be his new sister? He rushed to the door, opened it, and saw ...
