Jon walked down the stairs, trying to contain his excitement. He took a seat on the easy chair and pretended to read a book. After a couple of minutes, his parents entered the room and sat on the couch. Before his dad could get the remote and put the game on, his mom got it first.
"Not tonight honey," she said, "it's my turn with the remote, remember?" Jon's dad groaned as he remembered the promise he'd made on her birthday, that once a week they'd watch what she wanted. And it wasn't long before she found what she wanted: an episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
As the TV was turned on Jon saw a scene of some rich housewife shopping with her spoiled teenage daughter. As he turned to look at his parents, he was astonished to see that the changes had already occurred. Jon's mom was wearing tight white pants, a snug but blousey leopard print camisole, and gold high heel sandals, just like the mother on the TV. The change to his father was even more drastic. He was on the couch, now with super-tight, dark blue, low-rise jeans, a low-cut black tank top (with a black bra showing underneath), and black flats. His nails had a french manicure and his face was perfectly made-up with dark eyeliner and mascara and shiny lip gloss.
Both were sitting with their legs crossed as if nothing had happened. Then his dad turned to his mom. "Those are some cute outfits. Can we go shopping, mom?"
Wait, thought Jon, as he still was staring at the changes the TV had wrought Did he just call her mom? Like she was his mom?
"Sure sweetie. I just heard about this new boutique that opened downtown. We'll go tomorrow."
"Awesome," Then, Jon's dad noticed that Jon was looking at him. "What are you looking at, perv?"
Jon was taken aback by his father's new attitude. Then his mother chimed in.
"Jon, stop staring at your sister."
Sister?!
