Instead of making the changes directly, Jon had a different idea. Why not some object that would induce the changes? Something in the house...
"I wish that whenever anybody sits on the couch in our living room and watches TV, their personality, social roles, and clothing will change to match that of one of the characters in the program they are watching. I wish the changes would last for 24 hours, and nobody else would notice anything different."
After the wish Jon carefully hid the stone and went downstairs to see if anybody was watching television.
