Allison watched the five Goth girls who were trying to look like they belonged to the popular crowd (for some reason) walk down the hall. It was bad enough that they were freaks, but now they were fakers too? What were they trying to prove?
She waited by the entrance for Zoe to show up so she could ask her why she just hung up on her so rudely. And when Zoe and her friends finally did show up, Allison's jaw almost dropped to the floor.
Zoe wore a spiked collar, a black corset, a ripped black miniskirt, black and white striped stockings, and black knee-high buckled boots with four-inch stacks. Athena wore a full-length black lace dress with a black under-bust corset and black boots. Zelda wore a black latex body suit and black lace-up boots with three-inch stacks. Sabrina wore a spiked collar, a black leather corset, a black leather miniskirt, fishnet stockings, and black knee-high buckled boots with three-inch stacks. And Stephanie wore a black T-shirt over a nylon shirt, a black ripped miniskirt, fishnet stockings and black knee-high buckled boots with two-inch stacks. All five still had their non-Goth hairstyles and tanned skin, but they put on black make-up (except Zelda, who put on blue make-up - it was a force of habit).
They all looked like freaks.
Allison slowly and cautiously approached them, and then in a low voice, almost a whisper, she said "What are you wearing? Are you insane? This will destroy your image."
"I don't care about my image," Zoe said. "I just want things to be like before again."
"What are you talking about?" Allison asked. "You look like freaks." She grabbed Zoe's arm and started to pull her away. "Come on. We've got to fix this." But Zoe shrugged her off.
"No. I want to be this way."
Allison looked at her as if she had lost her mind, and watched in stunned silence as the five most popular girls at school walked past. Well, they certainly weren't the five most popular girls anymore. With this one act, they had totally destroyed everyone's admiration and respect of them. Allison wasn't even sure that they could come back from this, if and when they woke up from their insanity.
As they walked to their lockers, everyone looked at them like they had gone insane. Most people asked each other what was going on, why were the hottest girls at school wearing freak clothes, and if they had lost their minds, and some people even threw insults at them. Some of those people were ones that were worshiping the ground they walked on just one day earlier.
Of course, Zoe and her friends were used to such insults, but as Goths they usually just got ignored. That wasn't the case now. And suddenly they thought that maybe all of this wasn't that great of an idea after all.
