"Are... are you going to do something?" asked Jane.
"Yup." said Karyn.
"Look, Karyn," said Jane. "This is all, uh, complicated, and you may end up doing something really bad..."
"Like?"
"Like wishing I'm happy with everything. Wishing we could be sisters forever. Things like that. You don't remember things correctly, Karyn. Anything you come up with could be bad for reasons you can't even remember. Please, let me use it."
Karyn looked at the stone, a little confused.
"I told you, I was a guy!" exclaimed Jane. "Think about it!"
"What?"
"I can't be your sister, Karyn. Or I could, but it would make me miserable forever, unless one of us used the stone to make me happy. And that would be like me taking drugs to be happy. It's not natural. I need that stone back, Karyn! We weren't sisters, but we were friends. Please, give me the stone!"
"Hold on, hold on," said Karyn. "I was just going to... Fine. Just one wish first, though."
Jane looked at Karyn, horrified at the possibilities in her imagination, but all Karyn said was "I wish I know if Jane's telling the truth." She looked away for a second as the wish gave her that knowledge, and then handed the stone to Jane.
"I'm sorry," said Karyn. "Here's your stone. Goodbye, Jane, please remember me..."
"Karyn?"
"No questions," said Karyn. "You were going to do it, so do it! Just wish that the wish did what you meant."
"Something's bothering you, Karyn."
"Yes, something's bothering me. A person's life is her memories. Once you change back... and I assume you'll make me remember that reality again... I'll be a different 'me' because I'll have a different set of memories. The 'me' that I am now will be dead..."
"That's what's bothering you? I could wish you have both sets of memories, or something."
"I guess," said Karyn. "But anyway, you were going to do it. Do it..."
