Keeping the mood light, I said. "No. Erin and I go way back. I'm just glad to see you're still up and running." 06-001 froze as he saw the android. C-JAM 719 looked over at him and then Erin for an explanation. Erin simply looked at them and said "Hello. It must have been a boring patrol if you have to bother a field trip." The androids all frowned. They obviously knew what was going on, but had no way to do anything about it. "Whatever, cyborg trash. You probably have way better things to show than a charging station." one said. "Once things clear up, you'll be the one in a cell." the other one added. The AEP units were looking uneasy. Aside from 06-001, none of them had actually been in combat before. I knew how to quit when ahead. I clapped to bring the attention back to me. "Okay. It looks like Officer Erin is a bit busier now. He probably has to get back to his desk. I'll get you guys back home now." I said with everyone's focus. "That seems to be for the best, citizen." C-JAM 719 said. One of the others said "I will escort them. You can never be too careful." He was being very ambitious.
Looking suspicious was a bad idea here. I looked at the orange haired android. "I would love a police escort back home. Thank you for offering." I said confidently. He just looked at me to lead the way. I smirked. "This is a police station. I'm sure the officers have to lead the civilians." I joked. "Very true, civilian." he said with almost a pout. He led us out the building and then it was my turn to lead. I decided to wait it out at the apartment building. I knew nothing classified was there and they actually lived there. Worse case scenario, they would be stuck there for a while. It was not like they needed to be outside all the time. Along the way, there was a car accident. A big family in a sedan lost control of the car and crashed upside down into a wall. The driver looked out of it. Half of the passengers looked unconscious as well. We barely got out of the way in time. "Sterling and Ashley. Pry all the doors open. Barbara and Robin. Get the family out. Tracie. Call the ambulance." I directed. They looked confused until I gave them a look. They hopped to it. 06-001 and the android watched.
Incidents like these were a rare occurring event. Everything went without a hitch and the family of 6 were all rescued. 06-001 was very confused and then annoyed. I did not care. "Why are we dealing with them!?" he whispered harshly. I just ignored him. A news crew came shortly after the ambulance. They wanted to talk about it in the evening news. I encouraged them to talk about what they did. They did so and the people that witnessed them as well as the news reporters interviewing them called the heroes and showered them with praise. They looked really happy about that. "Are these your kids?" the camerawoman asked. "I'm their caretaker. Like a nanny." I said happily. Her head nodded as she absorbed that information. "Well, you have some really good kids on your hands then." she said as she shook my hand. After that, they told us to look for the coverage on the 9pm news. It was still 3:54. They the left to edit everything down. "That was admirable of you." the android said. "Anyone would do the same." We continued towards the apartment building. Once there, the android left.
