That day, Sunday, was Mother's Day. Jon's mother on some level dreaded it. It wasn't that there weren't days she was frustrated with being a parent. Every parent gets frustrated with their kids sometimes. It was the gifts.
They showed little to no thought. Or they didn't exist. Like her birthday, her children didn't put much thought into showing her they loved her. She didn't need something expensive. She would settle for a card it would take them a few seconds to draw, or promising to not fight.
She remembered last year, where Mikey had gotten her a video game. So she could, she supposed, enjoy watching him play it.
"I wish..." she mumbled, idly, entering the kitchen.
