"Your friend Lewis is the one responsible for this," Melissa's doppelganger explained.
Did Melissa know someone by that name? It did sound a little familiar, for some reason.
"He found a way to make a copy of you. And that's when I was created. I have an exact copy of your body and all of your memories, from before I was created. Obviously, since then, I've been having my own memories."
"So you really are me, then."
"Yeah." The other Melissa paused, then looked concerned towards Melissa. "You really don't remember any of this, do you? Maybe the process did something to your mind. We should go back to Lewis' place to figure this out. After all, if something's wrong with you, there might eventually be something wrong with me too." She grabbed hold of Melissa's hand and pulled her with her. "Come on."
Still dazed by all the new information, Melissa helplessly went with her. None of this made any sense. Her doppelganger wasn't created in a lab. She saw her created right in front of her, replacing her boyfriend Jeff. And what happened to him anyway? Her doppelganger didn't even recall being Jeff. Was he gone forever?
