Scott, still stunned, backed out of the room and closed the door. He still wanted someone to play with. Who he really wanted was Alexis. But where was she?
He headed out of the room and started looking around, trying to find her. He found her putting away neatly folded laundry in his bedroom.
"What is it, Dad?" She asked.
"Do you want to play dollies with me?" He asked. "I asked your mother, and she wasn't interested."
"Dollies?" Alexis said, a bit surprised. "I'm...kind of busy right now. Maybe when I'm done. But isn't that sort of Megan's thing? How about you ask her?"
He nodded. "But you'll play later, right?"
"I won't forget. Cross my heart," Alexis said.
Scott wandered out of the room.
Alexis paused after he left, looking in the mirror. "This outfit is a mess," she said. "Good thing I just did the wash," she said, reaching for a freshly laundered outfit, a rather mature looking blouse and skirt. "Let me change and put these things in the next load."
Scott headed down to see Megan, who was on the couch watching baseball. Scott didn't give it much thought, not at all interested in sports. He tapped her on the shoulder, and suddenly, this odd feeling came over him.
