"But...wishes don't come true...and I wasn't really serious....I wish..."
"Zoe...no more wishes...at least not until we figure this out," Jon said, sounding a bit stern.
"But..." she squinted at the woman, she could sort of see the same face as before...though older, covered with light makeup...and...well...attached to a different body.
"You wished I was the parent instead of her....I guess that meant I had to be a female parent."
"You sound pretty calm about this..." Zoe said.
"Wishes can't be reversed, Zoe...So I'm stuck like this."
"So, why aren't you panicking?"
"Probably because you wished I was your parent...there is this voice in my head telling me that I can't panic...because then you'll panic...and...." Jon paused. "Let's get you cleaned up...and we'd better figure out a few things. Like, who am I? And...well, what else is different. And...if I'm your mother...what happened to the person who was your mother before?"
"I don't care," Zoe said.
"Now, Zoe...you don't wish she was never born, do you?" Jon scolded.
Zoe paused. "No....but..."
"Zoe, you have to think before you act...I mean...I don't even know what my name is now...I'm assuming my name isn't still Jon..."
Zoe looked at her former brother....who was acting like a grown woman...at least in how she was speaking and acting...but...clearly had no idea who she was now. "I'm sorry..."
"I forgive you...you didn't know your wish would come true...but we're going to have to deal with this. Hopefully, we can come up with a plan before we run into anyone else."
