I haven't written in years, but I still check the site. I agree that the quality is higher than on the other story sites. Entries are usually longer than a few lines, and they actually develop something. I think the required login helps there. That small barrier discourages the one-line entries that become background noise on other sites.
So why did I stop contributing? I guess I'm just tired of Jon and Karyn. TF story protagonists tend to be passive and reactive because their role is to be subjected to changes, not to be in charge. And they tend to be just dopey enough to get themselves into trouble when granted phenomenal power. Jon has this going on in a big way. I know I could start a branch where he's more of a hero, or even start one around all new characters (which also appeals because the high school setting is feeling a little worn out for me). But then I start thinking I should just write something completely original and not bother with the YAWYW setting. Or maybe I should write a story of my own without a collaborative site.
Wow, it has been a long time, hasn't it?
