David looked at Janice, and then around the coffee shop. Everyone had gone back to their business, despite how strangely they were all dressed - and a few not even dressed at all. Janice looked at him expectantly, hopefully. He sighed. Whatever Gilmore was doing, there didn't seem to be any point in trying to reason with anybody.
"Listen," he said firmly to Janice, "I'm going home. And I'm just going to stay there until whatever the hell is going on here is over." He turned and started walking to the door, without giving Janice a chance to respond.
FLASH
David stumbled again, but managed to catch himself on the edge of one of the tables in the coffee shop. He had lost his footing, but regained it quickly, realizing his high heels had suddenly become a much more comfortable pair of plain white tennis shoes.
That was about the only comfortable thing, though. He was still wearing a short, pleated skirt - this time with purple and white panels. The sleeveless crop top he was now wearing had the same color scheme, baring his stomach and arms for the world to see.
He recognized the colors and the logo - he was now wearing the cheerleading uniform of his old high school. At least his body hadn't changed again. But when he turned his head he realized that wasn't quite right - long, straight blonde hair was now hanging past his shoulders.
He took stock of the scene in the coffee shop. Nobody seemed to bat an eye, even though every single person had changed in the same way David had. Still physically themselves, except for the long blonde hair and cheerleader's uniform.
David looked at Janice. She was still looking at him. But the look in her eyes was different. She was smiling a friendly, if somewhat vacant smile. She began to speak.
