Vincent Steel, owner of a sizable law firm in Lake Point, entered the Motorway, his eyes glancing over a woman passing by as she exited. He went up to the young lady at the counter. "Do you know if one Linda Madison is in yet?" he asked. Linda Madison was his secretary, and the two had been secretly seeing each other on the side as well. They were scheduled to meet tonight for a 'private meeting'.
Theresa checked the logbooks. The name sounded familiar. "No... I'm sorry, sir, but I don't have anyone under that name.
"A Linda Gibson, then? Or Merlin" he asked, trying a common alias or maiden name, which she sometimes used when she wanted to avoid notice for their liaisons.
"No, I'm sorry sir," Theresa said, after checking again.
"Hm, she must not have arrived yet. Well I'll take your honeymoon suite, if it's available. And if a Linda by any name shows up, do tell her that I'm here already?"
"Of course, sir," Theresa said, taking his cash.
Vincent took his key and thanked the attendant, though had become distracted wondering where Linda might be. Was she hung up somewhere, or dodging attention. Unknown to him, he had already seen his lover, but a trip to Room 3 made Linda, now acting as the occupant of Room 3's agent, unrecognizable to him.
