Suddenly, a blaring alarm went off, causing the thuggish orderly to swear.
"What is that?" Laura asked, her eyes wide.
The man ignored her, putting down the "questionnaire" and leaving the room. Once he was gone, Laura heard a loud pop and suddenly, the power went out. And that included that strange humming sound.
From outside the room, she heard men shouting. She thought that one of them said something about Subject Number Two escaping and knocking the power grid offline. Knowing that she probably wouldn't get another shot, Laura tried furiously to get out of her bindings. With the humming sound gone, she finally felt clear-headed enough to attempt escape.
