As Laura drove to the church, her mind wandered. She had made plans with Margaret White, the pastor's wife, to go over the plan for the upcoming church picnic, but the closer she got to the church, the more disinterested she got. And by the time she got there, she had no motivation for helping the woman. For some reason, she ceased to care about any activities relating to the church. This was really strange, since the church was basically her life.
Regardless, though, she headed into the church anyway, after parking her car close by. Maybe she could just tell Margaret that she was feeling under the weather today and just couldn't help her. That seemed reasonable enough.
Just as Laura was having those thoughts about ditching her meeting with Margaret, the box that she had stashed away in the corner of her closet was vibrating ... but just slightly. Inside the box, for just those few seconds, the pentagram was giving off a white glow. Then it ceased and the box stopped shaking.
Unknown to Laura, the pentagram necklace was still affecting her, even though she was no longer touching it. The initial touch caused her to forever be connected to it. And every now and then, the necklace would reach out to her and affect her mind, pushing it towards the desired outcome. And that outcome was Laura Ferguson as a gothic witch.
