Rachel realized she hadn't quite ended the call to Ryan and Samantha. "Anyway, I think you should find Doug Sallow and tell him everything that's happened. I think it's best he finds it out from you."

"We haven't seen him since this morning." Ryan said. "But I'm sure he's probably down here somewhere."

"And if he's been zapped, we have the Restoration Guns." Samantha said. "I'm not too worried."

"I'll look after things over here. I'll let you know if anything changes. Talk to you later." And with that, Rachel concluded the call.

Rachel turned to the doctor, who was looking after McMillan. "How is everyone?" Rachel asked.

"They're still a bit confused. They know who they are, but they're still a bit dazed." the doctor said. "And they still say a few strange things from time to time."

"Understandable, I suppose." Rachel said. "The thing is, even if you were a licensed professional, I don't know if there's much more you can do that you're not already doing. I don't think there are any medical journals talking about this sort of thing."

"You can call me Elaine." the doctor said. "That's what I'm calling myself now. I've decided once things settle down, I'm not going back to accounting. I'm going to go to med school and become a real licensed doctor."

Rachel raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. Are you sure about this?"

"Pretty much." Elaine said. "Being an accounting executive was dull. I think I can do more good as a doctor. I can help people, and make a difference."

"So when they bring out the Restoration Guns, they..." Rachel asked.

"They don't need to use any on me." Elaine said. "I'm staying as I am."

Rachel wondered who Elaine had been before being zapped by the Random Gun into the woman she was now. It was likely she had not even been female before being zapped into the female doctor she was now. But Rachel respected Elaine's privacy, and chose not to ask. Besides, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out anyway just by looking at employee records.

"Well, I'm glad you're here." Rachel said. "Thanks for helping us out."

"You're welcome." Elaine said.

McMillan groaned. The CEO in the body of a cheerleader sighed.

"How do you feel?" Dr. Elaine asked.

"Like I should be doing backflips on a field in support of the team." McMillan said. "But I'm not a cheerleader. The closest I've come is in doing those spots promoting the company with the PR department."

"Anything else?" Dr. Elaine asked.

"Every now and then, I have ... echoes. I remember ... those other forms I was in for just a second. The feelings attached... no, I don't want to think about it too much. Focus... focus..." McMillan muttered.

Rachel sighed. "I think I'll let you just rest." she said. "Just do what Dr. Elaine tells you, and try to relax. I'll get some people to manage gathering together all the Transformation Guns in the building."

McMillan smiled, and then looked at Rachel with suspicion. "You're not after a promotion or anything like that, are you?"

"No," Rachel said. "I'm doing it because it's the right thing to do. Now get some rest."

Rachel could not blame McMillan for suspecting others' motives, given that Mr. McMillan had to deal with unscrupulous ambitious executives like Clay Dankworth on a regular basis. But she meant what she said. She wasn't really doing this for any career benefits, aside from the obvious benefits that restoring stability to McMillan Tech Industries would have for everyone.

Still, she had to wonder about the future of MTI. Would McMillan and the others be able to continue in their positions? What would be the lasting psychological effects on them?

For now, though, she had to focus on what was going on in the present.

McMillan Tech Industries Lake Point Branch, basement lab complex

Ryan and Samantha turned to Jeffries. "When was the last time you saw Mr. Sallow?" Samantha asked.

"Several hours ago." Jeffries said. "I think he got zapped by one of the Transformation Guns, but he ran off and hid before I could be sure which one. One of the others grabbed it and ran off with it."

"We'd better find him." Samantha said. "I hope he's okay. We have more than enough Board members suffering from transformation trauma as it is."

"Are you up to helping us?" Ryan asked Jeffries.

"I ... I think so." Jeffries replied.

"Good." Ryan said.

With that, the three of them left the main lab to search the rest of the basement laboratory complex and the Research and Development department. They hoped to find and help as many people as they could in the basement, before eventually heading to the upper levels of the building to help the many affected by the Transformation Gun chaos.

First things first, they had to find Mr. Sallow. If they ran into anyone else in the process, they would do what they could.
