Homeroom lasted just 35 minutes and was usually the most boring slice of the school day. It was the primary way by which the school handled housekeeping tasks, plus sometimes it was reserved for study or work time.
As the students filed in, homeroom teacher Mrs. Alexander, who also taught some English classes, handed out a paper to each student. It was a form for the upcoming senior class field trip to the local waterpark.
As Saronda looked at the form, she realized her student ID number might not be the one she'd always known, so she went looking in her bag for her ID. When she found it, she was surprised not by the photo of herself, but by something else.
It had her full name printed. And her name had surprisingly changed.

After filling out the form, homeroom was a chance for Sa'Rhonda (what a weird spelling, she thought) to get a sense of the rest of her day, so she opened her planner.
She had a fourth-period chemistry class, lunch, English and then physical education. While English and PE had been reversed as Sarah, at least they were the exact same classes. She also had a vocabulary quiz in English, but she normally did that day of the week anyway, and she'd studied for it before everything happened.
It dawned on her. In her old reality, she had the same science class as LaShawndra. Redemption was just one period away.
