Sarah turned back and looked at the data concerning their new case. From what she could see, it seemed that they would be tracking down someone (or more likely something) that could possess anyone. For lack of a better term: a body-snatcher.
They already had video evidence of a man grabbing hold of a struggling woman and the man suddenly collapsing and the woman casually walking away. When this sort of thing happened, that was usually how it was done. The man wouldn't remember anything, unless he was hypnotized to remember or saw the memories as part of one of his dreams. The moment their agency systems detected the video, a copy was made and the original was erased. Keeping the public in the dark was one of their top priorities. Unfortunately, though, they don't always succeed. Like that one case that Kendall was talking about. The one that happened before Sarah came to the agency. It happened in a town called Lake Point, Ohio. It was a case of magic gone awry. But in the end, the incident was resolved and the only real harm done was in some of the trauma that residents had to live through and live with.
Kendall made it sound like this case would be just as bad. But Sarah had a feeling that he was just exaggerating. Maybe just a little.
Sarah turned away from the monitor and then went to see Morris. She always enjoyed him showing her new tech. It really was his passion. Give him a problem and he'll solve it. He always does, eventually.
"Hi, Morris," Sarah said, walking into the lab.
"Agent Smith," he said, brightening up.
"Morris, I told you. You don't have to be so formal with me. Just call me Sarah."
"Oh ... uh ... okay. Sarah. Let me show you something. While you were on vacation, I came up with the coolest idea. Come here," he said, waving her over.
Sarah walked over next to him and felt Morris touch her neck. His fingers felt cold and slick.
"What was that?" Sarah asked, startled.
"That's what I was talking about. It's ..."
