The tourist season was winding down, and the Hamiltons noticed their floor of the hotel was rather empty.
The only people they'd seen were four maids, all dressed in what appeared to be the hotel uniform for service staff. The first they passed in the lobby, one on the elevator pushing a cart full of dirty linens, and the other two when they got to their floor.
The three were all of different heights and ethnicities, but had one thing in common...they all looked too pretty to be maids. They were youthful women in their prime, and looked more like models.
"Excuse me," Janice said to one of them as they approached their room. "We may need some extra towels."
The woman responded with a thick Spanish accent. "Si..." she said, nodding her understanding.
She swiped the keycard through the door, which opened. They entered. The room, actually more of a suite, consisted of two bedrooms and a small living room area. There was also a small kitchenette with a microwave and a mini-fridge.
"Do I really have to share with Hannah?" Todd said.
"Todd, it's a family vacation," John said. "You're lucky the rates are so reasonable. I thought we'd have to get a room with two double beds and rent a cot.
He peeked into the rooms. "There's only one bed in each of them."
Janice called for the maid outside. "We asked for a room that could hold all of us."
"Si, Senora..." she came in and pulled off the sheets and showed how the single bed was actually two smaller beds. "We fix."
She went out into the hall and came back with another maid, who seemed to be Eastern European in origin, and the two quickly converted the room to two single beds, and made them up.
John offered each of them a tip before they left. Janice jabbed him slightly, looking a bit annoyed. "Stop looking at them like that."
"Like what?" He said.
"Like they're gorgeous."
"It's probably some program. They pay their way from whatever country they are from and they work for next to nothing. That's why I tipped them."
Janice nodded. "Well, don't get any ideas though.
