After they took just five steps into the house, the door behind them suddenly slammed shut. They spun around in surprise, but saw that no one was there.
"Maybe it was the wind," Julie whispered.
Kevin walked towards the door, but when he tried to open it, he found that he couldn't. "It's locked. Or maybe stuck?" He pulled harder on it, but it still wouldn't budge. "No, it's definitely locked."
"Who locked it? There's no one here," Julie said.
"Finally, you agree with me. See? I told you this was a bad idea." Kevin walked towards one of the windows. "Maybe one of these open."
"Shh," Julie said. "I thought I heard something."
Kevin sighed. "Not again," he said, shaking his head. "Listen, Julie. There's no one here. You're just ..."
"Yeah? Then who locked the door?"
"Maybe no one did. This place is old, right? Maybe you were right. The wind closed the door and then it locked by itself. But it doesn't matter. We can just break one of these windows. Or maybe there's another door out of here."
"If you think no one's here, then why are you so eager to leave?" Julie asked.
"Because this place scares the hell out of me, okay? I know that doesn't sound very manly of me, but it's the truth. I just have a bad vibe about this place." He turned back towards the window. "Now help me get this thing open."
