Jeremy stepped towards the doors and tried to pry them open, thinking he could crawl out. But when he touched them, he snatched his hands back. The doors were hot. Very hot.
Someone started laughing. It was the same voice from before.
"What the hell is happening?" he said out loud. He took a deep breath and tried his best to pry open the doors, despite the hotness of them. After a few tries on and off, he finally succeeded and saw that he was between floors. There was just enough space to crawl through to get to the ground level.
In the distance, he heard someone scream. He wasn't sure, but it sounded like it might have been Sarah. This gave him more of an incentive to get out of the elevator. And in no time at all, he was out, falling ungracefully to the ground level floor. As he stood up, there was a squeaking sound coming from behind him. It was the sound of twisting metal. Then there was a loud crash as the elevator slammed into the bottom of the elevator shaft.
"Shit!" Jeremy yelled, feeling the dust and loose debris that blew out from the shaft.
"Get me the hell out of here," he heard another voice say. It was faint, but it definitely belonged to Seth.
Slapping the dust off himself, Jeremy ran to one of the windows and stared out onto the darkened desert with wide eyes. The light from the hotel and the two moons in the sky made things easier to see, but really, he wished it didn't. Seth was still in the pool, but now it was filled with brown muck. And Jeremy's replica was attacking Sarah. He had to help her.
