"Isn't that amazing?" Sarah asked, gazing at the sun going down over the horizon. "If it weren't for the red sky and those two moons, I'd still think I was on Earth. Jeremy?" she asked, looking over at her friend's replica.
The replica began to make gagging noises.
"Are you okay?" Sarah asked, sitting up a little more.
The replica turned suddenly and stared at her with red glowing eyes.
Sarah stood up suddenly, but then tripped and fell backwards into the sand. Jeremy's replica growled, then crawled over to her. And after baring his sharpened teeth (she was sure they didn't look like before), he plunged right into her neck.
Then she screamed.
"Hey, babe," Seth said. "Just 'cause it's night doesn't mean the fun has to stop." He began to swim to the edge of the pool, but then found that it was more difficult to move than it was before. He looked down and watched as the glistening water of the pool began to thicken and change color, becoming a sickly shade of brown. He looked up at the two bimbos. "Get me the hell out of here!"
The two girls looked at each other, then shook their heads "no".
He swam as hard as he could, but it felt like he was stuck in quicksand or something. And he was being pulled down.
Jeremy checked his watch. Had it only been an hour since they entered the portal? It almost seemed longer. "I wonder why the portal hasn't sent us back yet," Jeremy whispered to himself. Seth said that their trip would only last a few minutes. Perhaps the time limit was broken? Or maybe Seth didn't do it right.
Suddenly, the elevator shook violently, as if it hit something. But what was there to hit? And why was the elevator ride taking longer than it should have? He was only going down two floors.
"Have a nice night," he heard a voice whisper. Jeremy wasn't sure, but he thought it belonged to the hotel man. If a creepy award were ever presented, this guy would definitely get one.
