"No, no, no!" Seth ran over to join Lizzy in poking at the darkened displays. "The stupid thing must've run out of power!"
"Can we charge it up again?" Jeremy tried to keep calm. "Maybe jump-start it with our own ship?"
Seth gave him an incredulous look before throwing his hands up in the air. "And how do we do that!? Our stone-age crap-pile of a freighter barely keeps itself running, and you think we can just hook it up to a dead, ancient, alien spacecraft?"
"Hey! Don't insult my ship," Jeremy protested. "My dad kept her running for forty years before passing her on to me."
"Yeah, because your dad could never bring in enough metal to afford a new one-HEY!" Seth yelped as Jeremy leaped on him and began pummeling him and yanking on his long hair.
"You take it back!"
"Give me back my manhood first! It's because of your ship that we're like this!"
"Well, who's the one who said he knew how to work the portal!?"
"Who got us lost with his lousy navigation system!?"
Lizzy sighed as she watched Jeremy and Seth tumble over each other with Sarah pounding on them with both fists to break them up. Things had never really changed since all four of them were unruly kids growing up together on the scrapper's colony. Back then, they spent their days rough-housing in the halls of the compound and oohing over the salvage the adults brought in from their missions. When they turned eighteen, the four had all jumped at the first chance to exercise their independence, taking Jeremy's hand-me-down freight hauler and signing up to excavate new finds.
Unfortunately, due to some malfunctioning equipment, they had gotten a bit lost on their first mission. When they managed to get the sensors working again, they discovered they had drifted much farther out than intended. They also discovered this ruin on a nearby planet. So, they went to investigate.
Now, everything had gone haywire, and it was Lizzie's turn to be the level-headed one. "Guys! Stop it! We need to figure things out before we kill each other. Are you listening to me? Guys!!"
When the two scuffling girls ignored her, she gave them a few swift kicks. In response, one of them grabbed her foot and pulled it out from under her. With her other leg still planted behind her, she ended up in a perfect split on the ground. Much to her surprise, the position was perfectly comfortable for her, meaning that her enhanced body had become much more flexible.
Still, the drop had knocked some of the wind from her, and a stray elbow to the ear did away with the last of her self-control. Shouting in outrage, she swung into the fray. Sarah joined in soon after.
