Even through the haze of Ted's stoned mind, he could tell that something was wrong. He heard people shouting outside the restroom and knew that whatever was happening, he didn't want any part of it.
So he left the men's restroom and headed down the hall to the rear kitchen door, which led to the service entrance. But on his way, he literally bumped into Bobby, who was in a panic, running from whatever was happening up front.
After colliding into each other, Ted's mind cleared a little and looked at the jock. "Hey, dude. What's goin' on?"
Instead of answering, Bobby shoved him. "Outta my way, stoner," he said, scowling at him. He'd seen this guy at school. His name was Ted Graham and he was a total loser. He stood up, about to keep going, but then he stopped and looked back down at Ted, a smile forming on his lips.
"Dude, you okay, man?" Ted asked.
"Oh, more than okay," Bobby said. How could he not see before how attractive this guy was? He had always hated stoners and the losers they were friends with, but this guy ... it's like he was seeing their kind in a whole new light. He held out his hand and helped Ted up to his feet. Then he leaned in towards him, smelling the odor of drugs on him and felt like he was in heaven.
Then Bobby leaned in further and kissed him, which startled Ted.
Ted pushed Bobby away. "Dude, I'm not into guys," he said, backing away.
"I am," Bobby said. Obviously, the strange music had affected him, because no way would he have acted like this a few minutes earlier.
Ted felt uncomfortable to say the least and knew that he had to get out of there. So he turned and fled down the hall, then into the kitchen.
But Bobby wasn't giving up so easily. He ran after him. On the way, he wondered why he ever fell for a girl like Melissa. After all, what was he thinking? He should have always had his eye on a guy like Ted. All of a sudden, he didn't care what his teammates would think if they found out he liked guys. He was gay now and that was that.
