Richard ran into the lab. "Tim, are you okay?" he asked.
Tim turned around in his chair. "Yeah. Why?"
Richard turned to David. "This isn't the place for jokes, David. Especially during a fire."
"But I'm telling you. Tim was in a trance and the object was glowing," David said.
"The object was glowing?" Tim asked, turning to look at it. "When?"
"Just a few minutes ago," David said.
Richard looked at David, as if he were making it up or maybe even losing his mind.
"Don't look at me like that. I know what I saw."
Tim wondered why David was acting like that. He certainly didn't remember anything out of the ordinary happening after Richard and David left the room. The object didn't glow and he didn't space out. He remembered clearly that he was just working on the computer.
"Maybe we should check you out in the infirmary," Richard said, guiding David to the door.
But David shrugged him off. "There's nothing wrong with me."
"Let's just be sure."
David thought about it, then decided that maybe Richard was right. For all he knew, the object might have been affecting his mind, making him see things that weren't happening. It was at least possible. And it was better to be safe than sorry.
So, he allowed Richard to take him to get examined.
