(Decided I cut off the threat of Tanner and Sam too early and too completely in the other branch, so I decided I wanted to reign it in a bit.)
Sam leered down the hall from the trashcan he had crouched behind. Something had changed with that flash of light, he just knew it, and Jen, no JON, was right at the scene of the crime. He'd figure out what was going on and get his beautiful body back, no matter what.
Jennifer blinked; that light was exactly the kind that was emitted by the stone when its magic took effect, but the stone was still securely in the purse she was currently wearing. However she had greater concerns as her friend Leona had stumbled and sagged against the lockers. The platinum haired cheerleader had been chatting amicably with Jennifer before the white flash of light, which seemed to have disoriented her. It confused Jen, because she felt like she'd been arguing with someone, but she and Leona hardly ever fought. Jennifer put an arm out to study the girl and asked "Leona, hun, are you okay?"
Meanwhile from Leona Vanderfield's perspective, she had been Leonard Drullers moments beforehand. She'd been trying to fit the diorama she was working on for her sociology class in her locker, ignoring Tiffany Sanders loud put downs echoing from down the hall when her entire world had changed. She certainly looked nearly nothing like Leonard Drullers now, and in fact looked like she was Tiffany's twin sister. (The magic of the wish takes fortunate features, Leonard didn't have very many to begin with and ended up closer to a Tiffany clone than Jennifer did to a Sarah one.) The only major difference between them was that she retained her own green eyes. She had Tiffany's straight platinum hair, her tanned toned legs, her perky b-cups and even her womanhood. She forced herself to take a deep breath, and marveled both at the ease of breathing without asthma and the rise and fall of her new breasts.
She was also wearing the cheerleader uniform Tiffany had been wearing, her mind filled with images of participating in the sport. She blinked up at Jennifer Gibson, a girl she'd been too nervous to talk to moments before and suddenly felt a friendly closeness to her. "Jen, what happened to me?" Leona wasn't upset really, but she was confused.
Jen surreptitiously slipped her hand into her purse and brushed the stone while responding, "I wish I knew..." Information flashed into her mind; her wish hadn't just affected her and Sam. It was continuing to shift the fortunate and unfortunate throughout town. Leona had been named Leonard and exchanged fortunes with Tanner, previously Tiffany. Jen's perfect brow furrowed as she tried to reconcile her memories of Leona, the epitome of a hot geek girl, with having been an overweight boy like Tanner Sanders before. Leona was really outgoing, a part of the cheerleaders and the head of the schools DND club. Indeed, Leona was far more social with her nerdy hobbies than Leonard had been, roping her friends into going to renaissance festivals, conventions, arcades and more, while Leonard had mostly kept to himself. The picture of Jennifer and Karyn as Zelda and Lara Croft that Jen had discovered that morning had shifted to have Leona, who was apparently known as the cosplay queen, smiling with them in a killer Black Cat costume.
It was equally odd to think of Tanner, a mean spirited jealous boy, used to be a cheerleader like her and Leona. She glanced down the hallway to see Tanner similarly out of it as Leona was, although the boy seemed significantly more distressed. The former teen bombshell's mind had basically shut down when confronted with the reality of becoming an obese nerd at the bottom of the social pecking order. In the new reality, his innate meanness and jealousy had made him even more of a pariah than the kind but shy Leonard had been.
"It's okay Leona, just take a deep breath." Jen said, stalling a bit. She was frantically trying to figure out how to reverse the wish, before she was struck with a thought. Why should she? She loved her new reality and wanted to keep it; she felt right as Jennifer in a way she never had as Jon, who was she to keep others from experiencing the same. That said, she needed to smooth things over with Leona so she didn't cause a scene, she could do a few damage control wishes in private later to make sure things didn't get too out of hand "Lee, can you look at me?". Leona looked up from where she was disbelievingly cupping her own bosom to lock eyes with Jen. She only had vague memories of her life as Leona, but she innately trusted her captain.
"You okay? We were chatting after practice and you started freaking out a bit, did you forget something at the lockers?" Jen hoped Leona would play along for the moment, and luckily the platinum blonde girl complied. She smiled a friendly genuine smile that would have looked so foreign on her mostly Tiffany features before they became hers, "Uh, I'm good Jen. Just realized I forgot an uh... essay I have to do tonight!" She answered brightly. Jen nodded, but saw a fuming Tanner approaching them from down the hall, and turned Leona to go the other way quickly. "Gotcha, well let's get going then!"
"Going where?" Leona asked with a cute tilt of her head, while already starting to walk along with Jen, their heels clacking in concert. Jen hurried the pace as they turned the corner, deciding she should make sure Leona got out of school before Tanner could confront her. She didn't like the look in the boy's eyes. "We're going shopping with Karyn and my sister! Come on, I'll race you to my car!"
They broke into a run, giggling to each other. Jen could hear Tanner running after them, but he quickly fell behind. Despite the two of them wearing heels, they were just so much more fit than the rude glasses wearing lad.
Sam also lost track of the girls when they broke into a run, he'd had to duck into the boy's room to avoid being seen when they came near his trashcan. He looked to see Tanner, someone even lower than him on the social ladder, heaving and panting. "Hmm, he was running after Jen.... Does he have something to do with this?" Sam muttered to himself before approaching the larger boy. Maybe he could find something out from him, and even gain an ally?
